1988 Chateau Mouton Rothschild , Pauillac

CHF 320.00

Deep in colour with beautiful tinge undulating between ruby and garnet. The nose is pleasantly smoky and toasted, also revealing hints of liquorice, spice and cedar. The palate is round, displaying a nice fruity freshness with supporting tannins. There is a nice balance between silky tannins and a multitude of savoury notes: caramel, wild berries, vanilla, coffee, white pepper. The long finish is harmonious, velvety and well balanced.

Varietal mix:

Cabernet Sauvignon 75%
Merlot 13%
Cabernet Franc 10%
Petit Verdot 2%

Tasting notes:

The nose opens on aromas of toast, together with floral notes (lily), caramel, blond tobacco, liquorice and vanilla, revealing a mineral aspect with airing.
The attack is full and generous, on chewy tannins. Surprising for its freshness and power, the wine ends pleasantly on notes of kirsch, mint and coffee.
